Sloan's curve did not exist when this version of the atlas was printed. A1A as it is known now, S. R. 1, then, continued along the beach all the way to Manalapan. In 1947 a hurricane washed out part of the road and the road was moved inland after filling the area along Lake Worth. Thus creating Sloan's curve.

Also, at one time the island South of this sheet was part of the City of Lake Worth. Just across the Intracoastal Waterway from here is the dividing line between West Palm Beach and Lake Worth.
