    Epoxy Color Pigment Paste For Epoxy Resins
    MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE is a concentrated color additive used to add color to an epoxy resin systems.
    It is a highly concentrated paste that exhibits strong color saturation and excellent color fastness, compatible with epoxy resins
    5% MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE With MAX CLR Epoxy Resin Used As A Black Casting Resin
    MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE is comprised of high-quality powder color pigments dispersed in an epoxy resin binder. It is processed through chromium hardened grind roller mill for absolute dispersion and color uniformity. This special processing breaks down pigment agglomerates into individual sub-micron particles. Special additives are also added to prevent agglomeration and to increase opacity and color quality.
    MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE is a smooth workable paste that is 100 percent reactive and compatible with thermoset epoxy resin systems. It will not reduce or alter the gloss property of the epoxy resin or other mechanical properties. MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE will not leach or bleed off making it suitable for protective, decorative coatings and casting applications.
    MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE is an excellent additive to enhance overall UV resistance properties.
    Add MAX BLACK PIGMENT PASTE to the Resin component and mix until the paste is completely incorporated. It is highly concentrated so a 3% to 5% addition to a clear epoxy system will produce translucent to opaque color density. This 8-ounce kit will tint up to a gallon of epoxy resin to an opaque color.
    It can be blended with other
    MAX PIGMENT PASTE
    to create any desired colors. Additions of greater than 5% to the epoxy resin will require adjustment of the curing agent mix ratio.
    To Meet FDA Mandates For Direct Food Contact, All Of Our MAX PIGMENT PASTE Does Not Contain Silicone-Based Surfactants.
    All colors are milled using a precision 3 roll mill, which ensures pigment dispersion and particle size reduction of no greater than 2 microns.
    1-micron unit is equivalent to 0.039370079 inches or mil.
    To put it in simple perspective, a particle measuring 25 microns is 1/16 the size the human eye can detect.

    Use a digital scale and note the amount of color added for color repeatability and accuracy.

    Warm the resin component or PART A and MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE to 100°F. This will thin the components for easy mixing.
    Add the MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE with the PART A or resin component in small amounts.
    The amount of MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE added to the clear epoxy resin will determine color opacity.
    Use other MAX COLOR PIGMENT PASTE to convert to other color shades, hues and tones.
    Hand or machine mix the mixture until a it is uniformly dispersed.
    Vacuum Degas or allow the mixture to sit overnight until to allow entrapped air bubbles to de-air.
    Add the proper amount of PART B or Curing Agent after the mixture has cooled to room temperature.
    To create High Opacity Colors, a neutral-colored filler such as calcium carbonate is used to convert the transparent resin to opaque and then the color pigment is added. Reduce the curing agent by mix ratio based on the amount of calcium carbonate  added to the resin. The calculated mix ratio between the RESIN and CURING AGENT must stay the same (2:1 or 1:1) regardless of the amount of calcium carbonate is used.

    Blend the first three components together until homogeneous and set aside for 2 to 4 hours and allow mixed in air bubbles to outgas.
    The mix ratio of the MAX CLR is kept at 2:1.
    For example, 80 grams PART A will require 40 grams PART B regardless of the amount of calcium carbonate added to the resin component.
    The mix ratio based on weight only since the PART A is more dense with the addition of calcium carbonate,

    Adjust the batch size accordingly. The amount of calcium carbonate can be adjusted up to 50% of the resin component. Just make sure to keep the PART A to PART B mix ratio at a constant 2:1.
    Adding the MAX PIGMENT PASTE and
    CALCIUM CARBONATE
    to the resin component (PART A) will form a more stable mixture. The curing agent is very hygroscopic and should be kept sealed away from humidity until needed.
    Dry fillers such the calcium carbonate will typically retain a small amount of moisture, about 2 to  3% and when added to the resin component or PART A, which is hydrophobic, the moisture from the filler will be displaced. This technique will prevent any blushing from moisture contamination.

    STORAGE
    Secure the caps for both bottles after use and store above 65°F minimum temperature to prevent re-crystallization. The resin system will remain viable for at least 12 months or longer when stored properly. The PART A or resin component may 'crystallize' after prolonged storage. Please inspect the PART A bottle for any solid crystallization that will appear on the bottom of the bottle.
