These valves are suitable for potable (drinking) water, but do not have any 3rd party certifications such as NSF 61. All the "wet" components are made out of FDA listed materials.<br>Like most diaphragm-type valves, this valve requires minimum pressure (3 psi) to open. It is intended to be used in pressurized systems, not in gravity feed systems. The pressure may come from city water pressure, pump etc.<br>Many 1/4" valves have very small orifices (typically 1/8" or smaller). This valve has a large 11/32" (8.5 mm) orifice so any restriction in your system will be minimal.<br>The Push-In connectors are designed for 1/4" OD (outside diameter) polyethylene tubing, often found in refrigerators etc. The connector will accept other semi-rigid or rigid tubing that has a 1/4" OD. Flexible hose will not seal.<br>Attachment: The valve can be attached from the bottom with four #8 screws.<br>VALVE COIL / ELECTRICAL<br>The valve coil is nylon encapsulated and is water resistant (but may not be submerged).<br>The coil is rated for continuous duty, which means that the coil temperature will stabilize at a safe level and will not continue to rise indefinitely. As with most continuous duty rated valves, the coil may still get warm or even hot during long activation periods. This is completely normal for most solenoid valves.
